Thomas Kenyon Codeine shows serious improvement as a lyricist and a producer. Incredibly versatile album, really an unexpected delight. It's got soul, reggae, hip hop, rock, folk, lounge/piano, dj/scratches, comedy... I will be jamming to this for awhile! Favorite track: Sirens In St. Louis Ft. Brother Katz.

about

Raising Cain: God's Gift

Naturally coming from the underground rap scene in the MidWest of America, murderous and dangerous lyrical mentality was what I was known for ever since I released my first classic album Codeine's DreamZzz. It's taken off the shelves for now and will be re-released for worldwide consumption in Winter 2015 when it gets dark and cold. Listeners viewed me as a demonic, devil-boy with wicked voodoo powers. But they misunderstood the album for reality, when in fact it was a Nightmare album based on my personal nightmares and dark thoughts. For years I had been striving to change the dark twisted nightmarish scary image that I began with. And God's Gift is Redemption from the curses and mishaps that I had faithfully written as religion.
Here in St.Louis we have a bunch of people from New Orleans so some believe that what I write in my rhymes come true. And half of them did. The dark arts of music engulfed my every surrounding and affected my life negatively. Secular music, it was. Once I began changing my life and music to a good sounding acoustic style with uplifting lyrics, my life began to change as I see the light now instead of darkness all around me. I was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana so I believe this too that lyrics come to life sometimes. It's real. And it's a Gift from God.
Now Enjoy the fun, live performance atmosphere of Raising Cain: God's Gift!
